The sculpture "Worker and Collective Farm Girl" - a monument of monumental art, a symbol of the Soviet era. The idea belongs to architect Boris Yofanu. Sculpture Competition sculpture by Vera Mukhina won.

Monument manufactured of stainless chromium steel. The height of the monument about 25 meters and a height of about 33 meters pedestal. Weight of the monument is 185 tons.

At the beginning of Mukhina produced a half-meter plaster model. According to this model at the pilot plant of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering and Metalworking completed a huge monument. He supervised the work of Professor PN Lions. Sculpture graced the Soviet pavilion at the World Exhibition in Paris in 1937.

During transport from Paris monument was damaged. In the first half of 1939 it was restored and installed on a pedestal at the entrance to the All-Union Agricultural Exhibition (now VVC). In the Great Soviet Encyclopedia sculpture called "standard of socialist realism."

In 1979 the monument was restored. But by the beginning of the two thousandth monument demanded major reconstruction. In 2003, the monument was dismantled. 40 separate fragments were sent for restoration. It was supposed to return it to the place of the end of 2005. Funding problems delayed the restoration work, and they were only completed by November 2009.

The restorers strengthened the supporting frame sculpture. All parts of the monument cleared and held anti-corrosion treatment. To establish a monument in its place, but to a new pedestal. He is exactly the same as the original, built in 1937, but a little shorter. New pedestal above the old 10 meters.
