Palazzo Tucci - a historic building in Lucca for centuries owned by the family Tucci. Around the middle of the 18th century, the then owner of the Palazzo Giuseppe Tucci, decided to renovate the building where his family lived for more than two centuries. This decision coincided with the marriage of Giuseppe Maria Teresa Guinigi, representative of a noble family of Lucca. Restoration works were so radical that, unfortunately, disappeared almost all elements of medieval, previously adorned the front of the building. However, the absence of plaster on the rear facade of the Palazzo gives some idea of how to look original structure, the former is essentially a union of several houses and towers. Decorated with terracotta arch beautiful courtyard also gives a hint of what significance possessed Palazzo Tucci in its glorious past.

Giuseppe Tucci put in charge of the restoration work to the architect Ottaviano Diodati, one of the best and most advanced masters of his time, who worked not only in Italy but also in France and in Vienna. It is therefore not by chance that the Palazzo Tucci - one of the few historical buildings of Lucca, which is "hidden" features of medieval and Renaissance architecture.

The main entrance to the Palazzo, surrounded by ancient Roman walls, is located in Via Cesare Battisti. A notable part of the main facade is a huge portal, topped Tucci family crest and the inscription «Joseph Tuccius Sibi Posterisque - AD MDCCLXXIX ». On the back side of the facade you can see a memorial plaque commemorating the name of the musician Alfredo Catalani. Palazzo lobby is divided into two rooms. The second is a large staircase that leads directly to the entrance to the main floor. Floor decorated with stucco, and its decoration is the oval window. Inside the Palazzo Tucci can see stucco decorations, paintings of the 18th-century frescoes depicting the flora and seasons, as well as paintings depicting mythical characters - probably the last to be painted by local artist Giovanni Domenico Paladini.
