Art Museum of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation keeps a rich collection of works of art of ancient and modern art. The museum was founded according to Calouste Gulbenkian last will, a prominent businessman, and no less famous art collector, who wanted his collection became the basis of the museum. He was an avid collector since childhood, and his collection is considered one of the most valuable collections of art in the world. The museum is located in a picturesque park complex, which belongs to the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, at the intersection of the Prospectus and the Prospectus de Berne Antonio Augusto de Aguiar.

The permanent collection of the museum is divided into two parts and is presented in chronological and geographical order .  In the first part of the museum, you can see the works of Eastern and classical art .  Among the exhibits of the first part of the museum - art objects from Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece and Rome, as well as from Mesopotamia, one of the most important centers of world civilization and culture of the ancient city .  Also presents ceramic and textiles from Persia, since the Islamic period, and Turkey .  The second part of the museum is devoted to European art, starting from the XI century to the mid-twentieth century .  In this part you can see the books and medieval manuscripts with color illustrations, figures from ivory sculptures, paintings and objects of decorative art .  Especially valuable are the works of the famous French jeweler René Lalique and his works are exhibited in a separate room .  Visitors can see works by famous artists of different eras, such as Rubens, Rembrandt, Monet, and many others .  The entire collection of the museum has approximately 6,000 exhibits .
