Leipzig is the city of the peaceful revolution that took place in 1989. This time period is evidenced by many memorable places, one of which is the museum at the "round the corner".

In the year of revolution, every Monday night, holding candles, residents gathered around a 5-storey corner house, built on the street Ditrihring at the beginning of the XX century. Thus, people have tried to express their dissatisfaction with the existing huge socialist regime in the GDR. In order to gather in this place, it required great courage, because in that building housed the Ministry of State Security (MGB). Currently, there is a museum at the "round the corner", his second title of the Museum "Stasi". It got its name due to the form of the main entrance, overlooking the junction of two streets.

The museum occupies 5 floors, in all areas, it was decided not to make any changes. Come inside, smell of old paper and linoleum. For visitors is a permanent exhibition entitled "Stasi - Power and banality", it takes 12 rooms and is dedicated to the history of the MGB and their actions at the time of the GDR.

Among the 40 thousand of exhibits you can find a variety of listening devices, tape recordings, objects and equipment used for masking and cameras to conduct covert surveillance, uniforms and more. All objects are complemented by numerous documents and original photographs taken in Leipzig.

The museum at the "round the corner" is an attraction, located directly in the former premises where the work the Ministry of State Security, and where you do not make any changes. This allows you to specifically convey the oppressive atmosphere of mistrust and surveillance, which came from the MGB.
