Old Stock Exchange is a unique monument of architecture of Leipzig, this historic building is located on an area of Naschmarkt. The building was erected in 1687 and executed in the baroque style, which had not only the Italian and Dutch features, but also some elements of the Renaissance.
Old Stock Exchange was built by the architect of Saxony Johann Georg Starcke. In this building you can see many parallels with his other creations, such as the Grand Palace, the garden and the house of the Italian garden in Dresden. In 1816, the building went through reconstruction, which involved architects such as Frederick Vaynbrenner and Johann Carl Friedrich Daute. But later, in the period from 1905 to 1907, when work began on the next change in the external appearance of the exchange, she returned to the original appearance.
The main entrance of the majestic building located in the heart of the southern facade, it is constructed in the form of beautiful arches, which are located on each side of the column. Above it can be considered as the angels hold a gilded emblem of the city of Leipzig. One of the angels is holding in his hand the rod even Mercury, which previously was considered a symbol of successful trading. Going up the white grand staircase, you can see that the flat roof of the old stock exchange and limited by a balustrade.
