Mendelssohn House - this is the only known home and the outstanding composer, which has survived to the present. It was here that he lived a great performer and conductor of the Symphony Orchestra of Leipzig Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy since 1845. The building itself is made in the neoclassical style, typical of the German culture of the time.

Currently, anyone can go inside the mansion, there operates a museum open for visits and excursions. In previous residential area home furnishings stores the lifetime of the composer, as well as furniture, personal items and some historical documents that tell about his life and work.

In 2014 Mendelssohn house has been completely renovated, and 205 th anniversary of the composer's museum appeared before the public in an updated form. Despite all of the work, the museum was open to the public without restrictions. A new exhibition was presented at the 900 meters, settling in a building on two floors. On the ground floor visitors get an interactive concert hall, where anyone can try their hand at conducting. On the second floor are represented those things and materials that create a unique atmosphere and tells the story of Felix Mendelssohn.

By the day of its opening after reconstruction of the museum exposition has been updated. Foundation named after the great composer's heritage received from his original three things, among them - watercolor brush Mendelssohn, two candlesticks, which show the initials of FMB, and the "Odyssey" of Homer, published in Greek in Leipzig as early as 1839.

Mendelssohn House Museum attracts large numbers of visitors and tourists from various countries, which binds and unites the love of classical music and outstanding musicians and composers of the XIX century.
