Garda - a tiny tourist town in the province of Verona, which lies on the eastern shore of Lake Garda, 32 km from the city of Verona. It is the smallest town of the province and most, if I may say so, medieval. The findings made in the mid-20th century, suggest that this area was inhabited by humans since prehistoric times. On Cape San Vigilio we had traces of Roman settlements. In the 10th century King Berengar II held the power of the Queen Adelaide in Garda, and in 1162 took refuge here all year, Bishop of Verona. At the end of the 12th century, the city fell to the Scaligeri family, then became a fiefdom of the family Visconti, and later - became part of the Venetian Republic.

The main attraction of Garda is its historic center with its narrow streets, the waterfront and historical buildings - Villa Bachelli-Alberini 16th century gothic Venetian Palazzo dei Capitani of the 14th century, Villa Carlotti Canossa, where once lived the writer Gabriele D' Annunzio, and the church of Santa Maria Assunta of the 18th century. At 300 meters above the city stands the castle of Rocca di Garda - from the place where it stands, offers a magnificent view of the surroundings and the lake. Nearby is the Monastery of the Carmelite Order, was built in the 15th century, and a little farther, at the eastern gate of the city - the church of Santo Stefano with the painting of the 16th century, depicting the martyrdom of St. Stephen.

Constant interest of tourists enjoy the beautiful Cape Punta San Vigilio, whose name comes from the name of the holy Vigilius, bishop of Trento at 402 to 385 years. In 1540, there built himself a villa Count Agostino Brenzone - since it does not just stop many famous people, such as the Russian Emperor Alexander II, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, the King of Spain Juan Carlos and members of the British royal family. Noteworthy are also cave paintings that can be found on the cape and the surrounding area.

In the summer of Garda - a paradise for water sports enthusiasts. Perhaps the most popular is sailing: the beaches of the town are many training centers, and clubs where you can master the art of boat control. They can also book a sightseeing tour along the coast. Sami beaches perfect for sunbathing, and in the calm waters of Lake Garda you can swim. Visitors can also try his hand at diving or water skiing. For those who are attracted to hiking, mountain biking and "Nordic walking" around Garda laid a lot of routes of varying difficulty. In winter, among the inhabitants of the city have become very popular jogging on the seafront. It is also an hour's drive from the ski slopes of Garda Malcesine.
