Former City Council - building located in the center of Krasnodar, Krasnaya street. The building is an interesting architectural execution, typical for the beginning of the XIX century, built in 1882 by architect NG Sinyapkina. Initially, it was a two-story, and after World War II has become the third, unfinished floor.

The building has undergone a difficult but interesting destiny, related primarily to the events and characters, to visit its walls. So, since 1903 it housed the city council City Ekaterinodar. Yes, that was the name of village-based Black Sea Cossacks in 1793, first as a military camp, and later - as a fortress. The name he received in honor of the donation of the Kuban land Empress Catherine II, literally - Gift Catherine. Ekaterinodar received city status in 1867, became the largest commercial and industrial, and transportation center on the built in 60-70s of XIX century the North Caucasian railway. Renamed in Krasnodar in 1920.

All the issues of economic and cultural life of Ekaterinodar and later Krasnodar solved within the walls of this building .  One of the most interesting periods of its history is linked with the name of the merchant Fyodor Ekaterinodar Anya Kovalenko - a passionate art lover, devoted his life and earn money to buy works of art .  His rich collection he presented the city, founded the first in the south of Russia Art Gallery .  The city authorities took the gift with gratitude and contributed to a small gallery room in the building of the Town Council .  Inauguration of the gallery with the literary and archaeological departments took place in April 1904 .  Here visitors please not only collected F .
