Among the many museums in La Rochelle, particularly noteworthy are two that will be interesting to visit for those traveling with children. It is a museum of automata (or mechanical toys) and the Museum of scale models.

For the first museum of its organizers collected exhibits throughout France and even buy them at auction in London. It took thirty years to visitors surprised happy and remembered his childhood toys, looking at funny moving dolls, trains, and automobiles, which adorned shop windows or living in children's rooms at the beginning and middle of the XX century. Toys are not only moving, but also write letters, play musical instruments, playing cards and even drink coffee. In addition to toys, you can see the ad, mechanical machines and animated windows. This museum is unique and is called only in France, many of the items from his collection are a real rarity and moved here from different antique shops and a "flea market". In total, there are about three hundred collection of mechanical toys and other mechanisms.

Next to this museum is a museum scale models - another unique exhibition in La Rochelle. The city itself is represented there in miniature form - you can see some models of city buildings (eg, station), as well as model cars and ships. All models and models were made specifically for this museum, which opened in 1987.

Both museums are located in the former fishermen's quarter Gabyu, near the Aquarium of La Rochelle and the Maritime Museum.
