St. George's Church was built on the old Christian cemetery Kobrin presumably in 1889 at the expense of the parishioners. Perhaps it was rebuilt from the former in its place abolished Prechistenskaya church. These facts indicate "Grodno Orthodox church calendar" from 1899.
The cemetery is called old Christian, however, it suggests that it was originally multi-confessional cemetery on the outskirts of Kobrin, later built here a church of St. George and were buried only Orthodox Christians. Judging by the condition of the cemetery monuments and graves, the cemetery carefully looked after and maintained throughout its territory in perfect order. Cemetery enclosed by a low fence made of red brick.
St. George, in whose honor was consecrated by the church, is one of the most revered Orthodox Christian saints. Saint George is named for one of his feats - a terrible defeat of the serpent, who lived in the Lebanese mountain lake. St. George, winning the snake - a symbol of invincibility Orthodox soldiers and military prowess.
In Soviet times the church was closed. After the collapse of the Soviet Union Kobrin authorities, it was decided to re-open it, and consecrate in 2005. The church keeps a list of the image of St. George and the particle of his relics.
The church is a historical and cultural monument and one of the few remaining wooden churches operating in the territory of Kobrin.
