Approximately 6 km from the town of Killarney (County Kerry) in the heart of Killarney National Park on the beautiful green peninsula separating Loch Lane and Macross, is a famous manor Muckross House - one of the most popular attractions in Ireland, which, as a rule, guests Emerald Isle and begin his acquaintance with the sanctuary.

Beautiful Victorian mansion, which you see on the estate, was designed by the famous Scottish architect William Henry Bern to Arthur Herbert and his wife, Marie Herbert akvarelistki Belfort. Construction began in 1839 and ended in 1843, and in the 1850s in preparation for the visit of Queen Victoria, scheduled for 1861, the mansion was broken near a lush garden, which today is considered one of the finest gardens in Ireland. In 1899, the estate was sold to Irish businessman, politician and philanthropist Arthur Guinness, and in 1911 acquired Muckross House Californian magnate William Bourn for his daughter Maud and her husband Arthur Vincent as a wedding gift. The family lived in the mansion until his death in 1929, Maud. In 1932, Arthur Vincent with the consent of the parents of his deceased wife decided to refer Muckross House as a gift of the Irish State as the Memorial Park Bourne Vincent, who in the result of Ireland's first national park. Over time, its territory was substantially expanded, and the park was named Killarney National Park.

In addition to the old mansion and gardens special attention certainly deserves specially built Muckross Farm, perfectly illustrating the life and experiences of the Irish Farmers' 30-40-twentieth of the last century. No less interesting and open in 1972, the arboretum, exotic plants for which were specially imported from the southern hemisphere.
