House Museum KE Tsiolkovsky, the famous Russian scientist, the founder of theoretical astronautics, is located at the entrance of Kaluga near the Oka.

29 years of a life scientist associated with this house. Here Tsiolkovsky wrote dozens of the most valuable works of aviation, aeronautics, astronautics, the Jet Propulsion other problems.

The house was purchased by KE Tsiolkovsky in 1904. Then it was a one-story building with a living room. In 1908 the house was severely damaged by severe flooding. Simultaneously with the execution of repairs to the house was attached to the second floor - there are located the office of the scientist, as well as a verandah, in which he has his workshop. The last two years of life Tsiolkovsky lived at number 1 on the street. Tsiolkovsky, who gave him Kaluga City Council on its 75th anniversary.

KE Ziolkowski died in 1935. A year later, his home was a museum, whose first exhibition was of scientific-memorial character and talked about the important activities of the scientist. In autumn 1941 the work of the museum has been suspended in connection with the occupation of the city. The museum domains were settled by German soldiers. In this regard, many memorial items, photographs, books were destroyed. But, nevertheless, some of the most valuable pieces were saved, thanks to the efforts of the museum staff and family Tsiolkovsky. After the liberation of the city in a museum began repair work.

The most important stage in the life of the house-museum of Konstantin Tsiolkovsky was 1957, when the celebrated the 100th anniversary of the birth of the great scientist. At this time, the scientific and technical section of the Academy of Sciences of the house entered a new exhibition, prepared on the initiative of SP Korolev

When in 1967 was opened in Kaluga Space Museum, the house-museum of the scientist was one of its departments. The yard with farm buildings, interiors of the house have been recreated in the form in which they were at the Tsiolkovsky. In the spring of 1968 the museum was closed for restoration, but the fall has opened a new exposition as biographically Memorial Museum. Author Subject-exposition plan made by VV Kazakevitch and AV Kostin, artist-architect Bilibin GN, the author of the restoration project was Dmitrikova ETC. All areas of the house was restored to its previous form.

Most of the memorial exhibits is genuine, these items belonged to the scientist and his family.
