Church of Sts. George was built in 1673 but was badly damaged during an earthquake in 1693. Later it was carefully restored and expanded. The Church is sometimes called the "Golden Basilica" because the interior decorated with gold. The pride of the church is a bronze canopy that simulates a masterpiece of Lorenzo Bernini in the Cathedral of St. Peter's in Rome.
