The picturesque island of Hydra, which lies in the Saronic Gulf - one of the most popular tourist destinations in Greece. Fascinating story, a lot of interesting places, as well as magnificent landscapes every year attract many tourists.

One of the main and perhaps the most interesting attractions of the island of Hydra is the convent of St. Eupraxia. The temple is located in a surprisingly beautiful location among pine and cypress trees on the slope of Mount Eros (588 m), at an altitude of about 500 meters above sea level.

Monastery of the Holy Eupraxia was built in the 19th century. It is a small, friendly complex, the main KATHOLIKON differs quite simple architecture. The peaceful atmosphere in the monastery will allow escape from the madding crowd and enjoy the peace and quiet. The road to the monastery winds down the mountainside, and offers a truly breathtaking scenery. A walk will take approximately 40-45 minutes. However, you can make a fascinating journey and donkeys - very popular on the island transport.

Today, the monastery of the Holy Eupraxia lives only a few nuns. Within the walls of the monastery, they organized a small workshop embroidery, where you can if you want to buy a souvenir beautiful handmade products.

A walk in the picturesque surroundings of the monastery will bring you a lot of fun, and rising to the top of Eros, able to enjoy the stunning beauty of the panoramic views of the islands of Hydra and other Saronic Gulf. Certainly worth a visit and located very close (just a short walk up the hill), another Orthodox shrine of the island - Prophet Elias Monastery.
