Kronhyuset building - a large red brick building, built in 1643 -1655 years in the Dutch style. It is the oldest secular non-residential building in Gothenburg. Kronhyuset was built on the former site of the ancient cemetery.

Initially, the building was used to store ammunition, guns and military uniforms. Over the years, guns and other military equipment held in storage at the bastions along the city ramparts. In connection with the expansion of the fortress Arnaz in the 1640s it needed more space for storage equipment. The decision to build Kronhyuset was adopted in February 1640, and in May 1642 entered into force the order to begin construction as soon as the city of bricks come from Holland.

In 1643 it was built only the first floor of the building, and the construction stopped due to lack of funding. In 1648 the building was reopened, but only managed to finish it in 1654.

December 9, 1927 Kronhyuset became the property of the city authorities, and until 1954 served as a warehouse, and then was transformed into a museum. October 24, 1968 he was awarded the status of a monument of architecture. Since 1998, here is the professional brass band Gothenburg, so today Kronhyuset is primarily a concert hall.

Old yellow building is surrounded by courtyard Kronhyuseta. Houses on the west side were built in the 60s of the 18th century and served as a place for storage of rail and fire-fighting equipment, and the eastern buildings were built a little earlier, and their workshops are located. In 1964, in the courtyard Kronhyuseta park was laid out.
