The huge temple complex Shantadurga dedicated to one of the incarnations of Parvati - his wife and constant companion of Lord Shiva, located in the small village of Cava, which is in the region of the famous spa Ponda Goa state of India.

Temple, in its present form, was built for 8 years and was finally completed in 1738 during the reign of Raja Chhatrapati Shahu Maratha dynasty. Before that, he was a small hut, built of mud and clay, where the statue of the goddess was moved from the destroyed in 1564 by the Portuguese sanctuary on the island Salsette. The statue depicts the goddess Shantadurga, holding in each hand a snake, one represents Shiva, and another - Vishnu.

Shantadurga complex located at the foot of the mountain range and is surrounded on all sides by lush vegetation. It consists of a main building and three temples built around the smaller one. All the buildings are painted in bright terracotta color.

The main temple is an interesting architectural structure with multi-tiered pyramidal roof topped with an elegant dome. The building is also adorned with massive columns, carved Kashmiri stone balconies with balustrades and has lots of windows.

Near the temple is a huge body of water, a guest house, which is called "agrashalas", as well as traditional Deepa Stambha Tower, which is considered a connecting link between Heaven (Swarga) and Earth (Prithvi).

The complex was rebuilt several times and renovated - the most serious and large-scale reconstruction was carried out in 1966.
