Museum Skansen "Gamla Linköping", whose name is translated from Swedish as "Old Linkoping," is an open air museum, which is located in Östergötland.

The idea to create such a museum in Linkoping was the result of the rapid pace of development of the city in the 1940s due to the success Saab. This meant that many of the old houses in the city center were demolished to make way for modern buildings. The politician Lennart Sёberg was concerned about the massive demolition of buildings, and it was he who put forward the idea of creating Skansen in Östergötland in order to preserve the architectural heritage of the region. The open air museum is located on land formerly owned by the farm Walla. The first building, which was moved to the museum, a farm Huitfeltska. Most of the buildings were moved later in the 50s and 60s. The houses are located under the street plan, copied from the old city center.

The museum is open year round and apart from a variety of old municipal buildings, there also is a private home, craft stalls and a museum, for example, a railway museum, opened in 1991, as well as an outdoor theater. Urban neighborhoods museum "Gamla Linköping" show how life works was a small Swedish town a hundred years ago: wooden houses, cobbled streets, gardens and playgrounds.
