In the city of Monastir on the territory of medieval Ribat is Bourghiba Mausoleum - the tomb of a famous politician and the first President of the State Tunisia. It Habib Bourguiba in 1956, Tunisia achieved independence a year later became president and remained in that post 30 years! Construction of the mausoleum began in 1963 in the western part of Ribat, where part of the cemetery Sidi El Mezro taken for the construction of the tomb of the first president and his family. Above the main building of the mausoleum stands a gold ribbed dome on an octagonal drum, and a bit further away you can see three green dome. They were crowned with golden crescents. In the side buildings with green domes rest Bourguiba family - his parents and wife.

Next to the main building of the mausoleum is a museum of Habib Bourguiba. It stores photos, important documents and personal belongings of the president.
