Al-Badia - is one of the oldest mosques in the Arab Emirates. Construction has another name - the Ottoman mosque. Mosque Al Badia is located near the village of Al-Badia, 30 km from Fujairah city.

The history of the mosque is shrouded in many mysteries. It is still unknown how old she is. Some scholars suggest that the mosque was built some five centuries ago. According to experts from the Department of the archaeological heritage of the city of Fujairah, it was built sometime in 1446 is also very unclear: where the second name of the mosque - Ottoman. Historians say that the construction does not have any relation to the Ottoman Empire, and are inclined to believe that it was named in honor of the man who was its founder.

Al-Badia - a small building with an area of only 53 square meters The mosque can accommodate a total of 30 people. The monastery was built from scrap materials found in the area: adobe bricks, stones of different sizes and gypsum. Interesting is the fact that the architectural style of the Al Badia is very different from the traditional style of the mosques in this region, and most close to the mosques erected in Yemen on the Red Sea coast.

The mosque is square at the base. Of particular interest is a large two-meter dome with four coils for collecting rainwater. This construction is supported by a column in the center, which divides the room into four equal parts. Entrance to the mosque is through the wooden double doors. Inside the building there is a minbar, which is a continuation of the wall. The prayer hall is the mihrab. At the center of the room is a table that divides the interior of the mosque in equal squares and also serves as a support for the four domes holy monastery. Sunlight falls into the mosque through the small window made in the form of flowers.

Today, Al-Badia - a valid Muslim temple.
