The Byzantine Museum of Corfu is one of the most important Byzantine Museum of Greece and is located near the old city street Arsenio.
The museum is housed in the church of the Virgin Mary Antivuniotissy. This temple was built in the late 15th century and is one of the oldest and richest religious monuments of Corfu. For a long time the church building is privately owned, and in 1979 it was donated to the state with all the relics specifically for the establishment of the museum here. In 1984, after the necessary restoration, the church-museum was opened to the public.

The museum presents an impressive collection of post-Byzantine icons and Byzantine as unknown and well-known artists from the 15-19 centuries. The museum has wonderful icons by Emmanuel Lombardosa. Also of particular interest are the masterpieces of Michael Damascus, Emanuel and Michael Avramisa Dzanesa. One of the most important exhibits is considered the altar cloth, which he brought from Russia and donated to the museum by Nikiforos Theotokis. Also in the museum are kept heirlooms founders of the church, the sculpture of the early Christian period, the old gospel, manuscripts, clothing and many other priests.
In June 1994, after the second stage of restoration work the church-museum acquired former glory and reopened to the public (additional work was carried out in 1999-2000.). Today, the Byzantine Museum of Corfu town is considered to be the most important historical and religious monuments.
