Municipal Museum of Amalfi is located in the town hall not far from Corso Repubblica. Despite the fact that it takes only one room, its exhibits are of great historical and cultural interest. The museum houses artifacts from the Middle Ages - paintings, old coins, flags and clothes, adorned with precious stones. Here you can also see the priceless artifacts collected by a well-known merchant and adventurer Flavio Gioia.

Perhaps the main attraction of the museum is a unique manuscript "Amalfitane Tavola", which describes the ancient maritime laws and customs prevalent in the Mediterranean area in the 13-16 th centuries. This code governs all aspects of maritime trade - the price of the installation vessel rental, hiring teams, action in the event of a shipwreck, etc. For many years - almost five centuries - "Tavola Amalfitane" was in the Imperial Library in Vienna, and only in the 19th century returned to Amalfi.

Another interesting exhibit of the museum is a ceramic sheet disposed on an outer wall of a building on the south side. It can be seen from Corso delle Reppublike Marinaro and Piazza del Municipio. This painting depicting scenes from the history of Amalfi in 1970, created by local artist Diodorus Cossa. In particular, the canvas can be seen of the ancient Romans, settled in the small seaside village of Skala in the 4th century and the first years of Amalfi, the scene of violent trading and political life in the Middle Ages. There is also depicted invention sea compass, the arrival of the relics of St. Andrew and other important historical events.
