Orthodox church of the Holy Trinity is located in the Old City Town Square in the heart of the Old Town of Budva. Municipal Archaeological Museum is here, right in front of the temple.
The church was erected by popular request of the representative of the Orthodox denomination in the early XIX century. Temple beautifully preserved despite the serious restoration work following a devastating earthquake in 1979, the temple looks great in our days. The architectural style of buildings gravitates to the Byzantine, which was typical for the construction of domes and arches.
Budva temple of the Holy Trinity is a replica of the church of the Assumption in Podgorica. Both temples are built of stone, in two color combinations - red and white stripes which alternate in the masonry. High bell tower is crowned with three bells.
The modest exterior is compensated by a luxurious interior of the church of the Holy Trinity. Inside there is a high iconostasis in the Baroque style, made by the Greek artists Naum Zetiri. It can not be left unattended colorful mosaics and frescoes with gold - they are above the entrance to the temple.
Next to this church rests the famous Montenegrin writer and public figure. It is a grave budvantsa, a fighter for people's freedom - Dalmatia Stefan Mitrov Ljubisa, who lived in the XIX century.
