600 km. in the north-west of Cotonou, on the border with Togo, is a city Bokumbe, widely known for its market, which is regarded as the best market in the country. Only here you can buy rare, authentic, traditional folk sculptures and pipes made of fine wood - a subject of pride of local craftsmen. Every four years, it held a unique Bokumbe lashed Festival, during which naked young men with whips form a large crowd and enter into serious battle with the inhabitants of neighboring villages. This, of course, ritual ceremonies, does not cause any harm to participants, but the spectacle, however, is not for the faint of heart.
