A unique place Dzhanapanda Locke - Folk Art Museum - located in the state of Karnataka, in the 53h km from Bangalore. But it is not a museum in the traditional sense, but rather a research and cultural center, where you can not only get acquainted with the works of Indian folk artists, but also to see the performance and participate improvised performances, attend master classes and have a good rest. The main focus of the center - the preservation and promotion of living close to nature and to the national roots.
This organization was conceived in 1986 by the famous Canadian folklorist Nage Gowda, and by 1994 his project was implemented in reality.
Located in the countryside Dzhanapanda Locke occupies approximately 61kv m and represents a complex of buildings and resembles a kind of student campus. The main points which should definitely visit by visiting this museum are: Sarasvathi Mandir - located near the artificial lake Locke Sarovara building where you can admire the hand-made dolls in human growth; Locke Mahal - the warehouse where weapons were stored, ritual and carnival masks, utensils, and various artifacts; Puppet Theatre; outdoor theater; cinema. In addition there are often held various seminars and you can visit the various courses and even get a certificate of the Museum of Folk Arts at their end.
Every year on the territory of Dzhanapanda Locke held a large number of celebrations and festivals. The most famous and visited a Lokotsava Festival, which is held in February or March, and lasts two days.
