Palace of Happiness - is one of the architectural sights of Baku. It is located in the central part of the street Istigaliyat.
The majestic building of the palace was built in 1911-1912, the author of the project was made by Polish architect IK Ploshko. The funds allocated for its construction oilman millionaire-philanthropist M. Mukhtarov. In a tour of Europe Mukhtarov and his wife liked Venice. After returning from the tour, oilman decided to build in the city a magnificent palace in the Venetian style. Place in the construction of the palace Mukhtarov chose opposite the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, which at that time was the largest Orthodox church in the whole Caucasus.
The architectural solution of this palace has once again emphasized the talent of the architect IK Ploshko, who is also the author of an amazing building "Ismailiyya." Mukhtarov palace building is in the style "French Gothic".
According to the architectural design, the palace Murtuza Mukhtarov height should be slightly higher located opposite the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. However, local authorities have forbidden to build a palace that height, because the Cathedral is the main attraction of Baku, and no building in the city could not be erected above it.
Construction of the palace was completed in record time - in just one year. In the post-revolutionary period palace building was used as a "Club liberated Turkish woman", and after it housed the Museum-Reserve "Shirvanshahs" and the Wedding Palace ("Palace of Happiness").
In recent years the Palace of Happiness is in pretty poor condition. In 2007, the palace was begun repair work, which ended in the spring of 2012. At today in Baku Palace of Happiness - is one of the most remarkable and beautiful architectural structures of the city.
