Museum of carpet and applied arts in the capital of Azerbaijan Baku is located in the city center next to the Promenade.
  The museum exhibition devoted to one of the oldest and most common types of Azerbaijani arts and crafts - carpet weaving.

Carpet Museum was founded June 1st, 1967, it became the founder of Latif Karimov. In 1972, the opening of the first museum exhibition to visitors. Then the establishment of functioning in the building of the Juma mosque in the old fortress of the city - Icheri Sheher. In 1992, the museum moved into the building of the Museum Centre, which was formerly the Lenin Museum. In May 2008, in Baku it was laid the first stone of the new museum building. The ceremony was attended by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and UNESCO Director Matsuura. The museum building has the shape of a folded carpet. The author of the project was the architect of France, and Walter Jans Marie.

Today, the museum houses more than 10 thousand. Valuable works of art and historical artifacts. Among them, visitors gaze presented carpets and rugs XVIII-XX Art .; Ceramic Bronze Age monuments, art metal XIV century. Particularly noteworthy jewelry - silver and gold items, embroidery and national costumes. In addition, the collection includes works of art by contemporary artists, applied scientists. The oldest object of carpet art museum - a piece of Tabriz carpet "Ovchulug» XVII Art. By the valuable exhibits of the museum also includes a carpet with national ornament "Healy-Bout."
