Morro de Arica - a rocky promontory 130 meters in height, from the top of a panoramic view of the harbor and the city of Arica, northern Chile. Cape Morro is a symbol of the city, it can be seen in all the tourist postcards. Since 1971, at the top of the cape open the Historical Museum and the Museum of weapons, and he is declared a national monument of Chile.

In the Morro de Arica is a large area with several monuments. They are reminiscent of the war in the Pacific, and about the battle for the capture of the height of the Chilean troops June 7, 1880. This bust of Colonel Pedro Lagos, a monument to the Unknown Soldier and the Monument to Christ, Cristo de la Concordia, which recalls the union of three neighboring countries - Peru, Bolivia and Chile.

Treaty of peace and harmony between the warring nations in the war (1879-1883) in the Pacific Ocean was signed October 20, 1883. At the top of Morro was set Cristo de la Concordia - a symbol of peace between Chile and Peru. This 11-foot bronze sculpture of Jesus Christ, weighing 15 tons, the work of Chilean artist Raul Valdivieso, was made in Madrid in 1987. But in 1999, the statue of Christ was set on Morro de Arica with views of the Pacific Ocean. His right hand points to Peru, Chile, on the left. At its foundation under the coats of arms of Chile and Peru are engraved the words: "Love one another as I have loved you."

Geographically, this cape is part of the mountain chain of the Cordillera de la Costa, Andes. The ancient fortifications of the old fortress is a museum of History and weapons. The exhibition includes samples of military uniforms, weapons, ammunition, books, magazines, photographs and various items used by the Peruvian and Chilean troops at the time.

To get to the museum in two ways: either drive by car from the street Sotomayor or make pedestrian walk along the path at the end of Water Street. And when you stop in front of a large rock promontory, lift up your head and try to explain himself as brave Chilean soldiers managed to free from the invaders this almost impregnable fortress just 55 minutes, because the slope here is almost vertical.
