Bridge La Mardzhineda - an ancient artificial construction, which is a magnificent monument of medieval architecture and engineering one of the most interesting historical architectural attractions of Andorra. Medieval bridge laid across the main river of the country - Valira, is located in the district of Andorra la Vella, in the small village of La Mardzhineda in the place where he once held high-altitude "royal road", which connected Andorra la Vella and the community Sant Julia de Loria.
This stone bridge, designed in Romanesque style, has an interesting history of many centuries. La Mardzhineda was erected in the XII century. and today is the largest, while the narrowest and most well-preserved bridge of its kind in the territory of Andorra.
The bridge is an austere arch, thrown over the river Valira. The length of the arch is 33 meters. The total height of the medieval buildings - 9, 2 meters. The width of the bridge from one side reaches 5, 3 meters, on the other - 7, 8 meters, and at its narrowest point - only 2, 5 meters. La Mardzhineda was made of stone rubble, and special cement mortar. On both banks of the Valira built two stone supports connecting bridge spans in the form of semicircular arches. Closer to the center of the bridge is lifted and thinner, so the middle of the stone bridge is located slightly above the poles and is its thinnest part.
