The open air museum "Gorgippia" - a vast excavation site of the ancient Greek city, part of the Kingdom of the Bosporus, with monuments and works of ancient art. Gorgippia ancient city was founded more than 2,500 years ago (5th century BC). For the first time it was mentioned in the first century Greek geographer and historian Strabo. Gorgippia was one of the richest cities of the Bosporus kingdom, its major seaport.

In 1959, while digging a pit for household purposes, discovered at a depth of 1, 5 m from the surface layer of baked clay, and below a lot of ash and soot. There were found very interesting antique items, including the black-lacquer decorative lamp in the form of a black woman with a basket of fruit on her head. In 1965, on the street. Protapova, archaeologists have discovered the accumulation of breast images of Demeter and her daughter Persephone. Apparently, there was a temple of Demeter. Great artistic value is a marble head of Aphrodite 1st century, found during excavations in 1968 in what is now the reserve.

On the death of Gorgippia tell us only archaeological excavations. It is believed that in the first half of the third century Gorgippia was attacked by nomads, and the city was razed to the ground.
