At various times, the gate Marshirtor and adjacent rooms were used in different ways. Initially it housed a garrison city, and the gate was the parade ground: that in memory of that time on the territory of the gates was a monument in the form of bronze sculpture of a soldier. Throughout its history, the tower has repeatedly managed to save the city during the siege. During the wars of occupation troops stationed there, in the later period of the tower premises were used as a doss house, tourist base and a dormitory of the Hitler Youth. Now there is the headquarters of "Carnival Aachen society", as well as a wine cellar and archive space.
