Zhitomir Museum of Nature in the Holy Cross Church - is one of the departments of the Zhytomyr regional museum. The museum exposition is located in the Holy Cross Church, located in the oldest part of the city - on the Castle Hill, Cathedral Street, 14.
Holy Cross church in the Byzantine style was built in the XIX century. In the 30s it was closed by the Soviet authorities, and in 1987 it was given to the museum space of nature.

Zhitomir Museum - special. In addition to local natural materials it holds a great geological collection, which was created in the XIX century Volyn Governor M. Chertkov. The museum features more than 12 thousand exhibits, most of which are ready to tell the story of the flora and fauna of Polesye, its climate, as well as local rivers and depths.

Nature Museum is famous for its huge collection of stuffed animals and birds, is the largest in Ukraine. In addition, the museum is located in Zhytomyr collection of minerals and precious and semiprecious stones. The six large rooms of the museum housed more than one and a half thousand exhibits convey all the beauty of the picturesque and Zhytomyr. Here you can get acquainted with the flora and fauna of this region, its environment and water resources. Also on display in the museum exhibitions from other museums and private collections. The most popular among them are the exhibition "The anomalies of the human body" and "Butterflies of the World".

At the moment, there are disputes about the return of the Orthodox faithful of Holy Cross church.
