Church of Our Lady Remetskoy located in the small village of Remete, which is about 6 kilometers north of the center of Zagreb.

The first evidence of the church in Remete area relate to 1288. After the Turkish invasion in the 16th century the church was rebuilt, but the earthquake of 1880, she was destroyed, and in 1882 it was restored by the leadership of Herman Bolle. Since 1963, the controlled Carmelites.

Remete is situated in the valley of Mount Medvednica. There Pauline monks founded a monastery and a church was built. In 1790, the religious order was dissolved, but the Church of the Virgin Mary Remetskoy to this day remains a popular pilgrimage site. The greatest flow of pilgrims directed to Remete on 15 August and 8 September, during the Feast of the Assumption of the Virgin and the Nativity of the Virgin.

The church is Gothic and the facade - the Baroque. In the main altar of the church you can see a wooden statue of the Virgin Mary, created in the 15th century. It is believed that the statue has a miraculous effect.

Church of Our Lady Remetskoy also famous for colorful baroque frescoes on the ceiling. The researchers suggest that the author of the frescoes was Ivan Ranger, a monk-painter from Lepoglava, who traveled a lot. Many frescoes can see believers in traditional folk costumes of Northern Croatia, which pay homage to the Virgin Mary Remetskoy because she helped with the famine, floods and fires.

Not far from the church is the pillar with the figure of Simeon (the saint of the 5th century), which is held in the Syrian desert for 26 years.
