On the territory of Haanskoy Upland Natural Park, created for the purpose of protection and scientific activities in the highest region of Estonia. In the natural park, in addition to a large number of hills of different shapes and heights, you can meet and valleys with small lakes, villages inhabited by people, who appreciate and preserve the age-old customs and traditions.

Haanskaya hill is located in the south-eastern part of Estonia, a small part of it is in Latvia. The highest point is Mount Suur Munamägi, whose height is 318 meters above sea level. Also at the park it is the deepest lake in Estonia. It is called the Rõuge Suurjärv, the maximum depth of the lake reaches the mark of 38 meters.

Haanja Nature Park extraordinarily attractive to tourists, especially those who like to relax actively. In summer and winter you can conquer the highest point of a hill on a special trail. In this case, your path will start from Haanja village at the foot of the hill and at the end of the observation tower Vaatetorn built on top of the mountain Suur Munamägi. This tower was built in 1939, while its height was 25, 7 m. In 1969, was renovated as a result of which there was one more floor. The tower's height has increased to 29, 1 meter. In 1999-2005, the tower repaired and renewed. It was built glass cafe, a permanent exhibition is framed. In 2005, the tower was built lift. With a height of 346 meters 7 magnificent view over Estonia in a radius of 50 kilometers.

There is another nature trail, are in demand by tourists. It is located on the mountain Vällamägi, height 304 meters. The height of the mountain from the foot to the top - 84 meters. The trail runs along the slopes of the mountain, which sometimes reaches an angle of 35-40 degrees. On top Vällamägi is a peat bog, with the largest thickness of peat deposits in Estonia (17 m). There are national sign associated with this mountain if the weather is dry mountain "smokes" (as it is steam), then wait for the imminent rain.

Haanja Nature Park attracts many tourists in winter, try to get here when winter sports enthusiasts. The hilly landscape of Haanja literally attracts skiers and snow missing here until spring!

The park has another interesting attraction - an ancient Valley of Rõuge, which reaches a maximum depth of 75 meters below sea level. Also here is the Valley of the Nightingales, which has preserved the traces to be here once the settlement of ancient Estonians. Furthermore, it is known for a large number of sources.
