The symbol of the city of Vinnitsa is the Water Tower. This monument was erected from the original red brick building designed by the architect G. Vinnitsa Artynova as the basis of urban water supply. The tower is located in the pedestrian zone of the city, surrounded by green and chestnut trees and old houses in the square Kozitsky.
During the Great Patriotic War, the tower was used as an observation post from which followed the course of military operations outside of the city, since the site of the tower was a beautiful view. In the postwar years, the water tower was used as living quarters for the employees of the local water utility.
In 1985, the water tower was transferred Vinnytsia Regional Museum, which was placed on the area of the park Kozitsky. The museum includes a memorial exhibition of revolutionary and military glory. In 1993, the water tower was opened Museum of memory of the soldiers of Vinnytsia region who died during military hostilities (1979-1989.) In Afghanistan.
Its modern tower image acquired in the 80 years of the nineteenth century. On the tower is still authentic tower clock - chimes, which are still up to measure time, and each time a new note jingle. The park is located at its foot a few modern iron sculptures.
Climbing up to the top platform of the tower, you can see the whole city at a glance.
