Cathedral, Valletta was built in the years 1573-1577 and consecrated in honor of the patron saint of the Knights of the Knights of St. John - St. John the Baptist. The facade of the cathedral is decorated with a balcony supported by two Corinthian columns. Hence the great masters was read his proclamation. Crowned facade two small square towers, spiers which were removed during the Second World War.

The interior of the church is decorated with bas-reliefs in the form of grape bunches. Baroque ceiling was painted by Mattia Pretty master. In the floor of the cathedral located 365 gravestones of marble mosaic of different colors. Capella Cathedral divided by country; here found their final resting place of the Order of Knights of St. John Knights.

At the cathedral there is a museum of paintings - paintings of Caravaggio, "The Beheading of John the Baptist."
