Castello Introd in the eponymous town in the Italian region of Val d'Aosta attracts tourists with its unique architecture and beautiful gardens surrounding it on all sides. This practically all locking the barn has only recently been opened to the public.
Construction of a primitive form of Introd Castello, probably refers to the beginning of the 13th century. As well as the Castello di Gran, he was originally a square tower, surrounded by a defensive wall. Approximately in 1260, the year Pierre Sarriod rebuilt the tower, and later, in the 15th century, it was modified several times, resulting in a nearly circular shape adopted, which today distinguishes it among other Valdostane castles. All of these transformations have been made in the period of greatest prosperity Sarriod family, which up to 1420, the year of Lords united Introd and La Tour, and later split into two separate branches.
In the second half of the 19th-century Castello Introd survived two terrible fire, and in the early 20th century has been somewhat rebuilt on the initiative of the then owner, Sir Gonella, who hired this architect Giovanni Kevalli. Today the castle is owned by the Counts Caracciolo di Brienza, who handed him free rent Municipality of Introd. By the way, the name of the castle comes from the word "Entre-e", which translated from French means "between the waters" - it stands on a rock, protected valleys of the rivers Savar and Dora di Remes.
Among the ruins of the castle you can see a wonderful building of the 15th century, a rare instance has come down to our house, built entirely of wood - a barn, intended for the storage of grain. This is a valuable sample of the local architecture, the late Middle Ages. Both doors have retained their original Gothic iron gates.
The building of the Castello Introd is called Kashin L'Ola - in the past it was used as a stable and corral for the animals and how the hayloft. The oldest part of the building - the area supported by five pillars, with a roof with overhang. In the west wing of the door you can see the old bridge decorated archway keeled.
