On the left bank of the commotion, at the foot of Mount St. Sergius in the late sixteenth century, Moscow archers, especially who honored St. Sergius of Radonezh, the temple was built. In place of the existing nowadays building of the cathedral once stood two wooden church burned down in 1774 series and 1860.
In 1868 he was consecrated the new wooden building of St. Sergius church, built on a stone base. Modest temple architecturally reminiscent of a rural parish church, was loved and respected citizens. In 1933, after the destruction and closure of all churches and cathedrals, a small temple became the cathedral of the Diocese of Ufa. From 1937 to 1942 the clergy of the Cathedral of St. Sergius were arrested and shot (because of what the service has not been conducted), but the church "graciously" remained open for parishioners. All Soviet period St Sergius Cathedral remained the center of Orthodox life in Ufa province. In 1942 the church returned to the priests - the former prisoners of the camps, and in 1945 the temple received thanks for collecting funds for the country's defense.
Today, the oldest church building, not just undergone major overhaul with replacement of wooden construction elements for a durable material that adorns the historic center of Ufa. In the church there are icons with relics of St. Sergius of Radonezh, St. Nicholas and other saints. At the temple is the source and font of holy water, and the tomb of former governors monastery (in the people - cave). Since 2000. on the day of the Holy Trinity on the church year begins a five-day procession (dedicated to the founding of the city in 1574) around Ufa, with a visit to suburban churches.
