Luynes Castle can be seen around the city of Tours, just seven kilometers away. The name of the castle was from the name of Duke Charles de Luynes, one of the most powerful men in the France of Louis XIII. His position at court and a special arrangement of King de Luynes earned for his ability to train birds of prey and hunt with them. With the king, he was familiar with the teenage years. Impact de Luynes on the king was so great that he was able to achieve the expulsion of the Queen Marie de Medici and Cardinal Richelieu.
Wife intriguing de Luynes Marie de Rohan was also a famous person. She participated in several plots, including against the Cardinals Richelieu and Mazarin, and was even described by Alexander Dumas in his novel "The Three Musketeers" by the name of Madame de Chevreuse. So Marie de Rohan was called after the death of de Luynes and marriage with the Duke de Chevreuse.
This castle is the Duke de Luynes bought in 1619, hoping that the king, fascinated by the beauty of nature, will often come to his estate, and will spend a lot of time here. However, the king is not much the attention of his favorite, and he himself de Luynes long enjoyed its acquisition - two years later he died.
The castle itself was built in the XII century on buildings preserved fortress, which in XV-XVII centuries was rebuilt and adapted for living. Today the castle belongs to the descendants of the Duc de Luynes. For visitors they opened it in 1996, however, view it only in certain months.
