Mikhail Lermontov monument - one of the attractions of Taman. The monument is located in the heart of the village, in a shady little square, next to the museum dedicated to the great writer.

Mikhail Lermontov twice visited Taman. Here he was passing in 1837. After the first visit was born the famous story "Taman", whereby all learned about the village. Much to the chagrin of Taman Lermontov did not like, however, came to the area a second time, he did not visit the village and stopped at Fanagoriyskaya fortress. But today it does not matter what the poet wrote then, it is important that one of his literary works he called "Taman". Lermontov in Taman remembered and respected, so installed a monument in his honor.

Inauguration of the monument MU Lermontov was held on October 15, 1984 during the celebration of the 170th anniversary of the birth of the great Russian poet. This sculpture Lermontov relies on a small rock on a steep bank, his eyes staring into the distance towards the sea. The monument was built by architect Vladimir Gavrilov and a true master of the stone business Brodsky ID

Unfortunately, Taman did not survive a single building of the time when there lived a famous writer. In 1964, at the edge of a high cliff, on the spot where once stood the house in which he lived Lermontov, local researchers and admirers of Lermontov's reconstructed house with farmstead.

In Taman also has a small museum dedicated to Mikhail Lermontov, who became the pride of this land.
