State Academic Drama Theatre named after Victor Savin is located in the Komi Republic in Syktyvkar, in the street Pervomayskaya, 56. It is this theater was the oldest of all currently existing theaters of the Komi Republic. The base of the theater took place October 8, 1930. First acting troupe was organized in 1918. The head of the troupe Victor Savin chosen as the first drama performance titled "Great wine." Production took place in winter 1919 and was enthusiastically accepted by the audience. Two years later he formed "Sykomtevchuk" - the theatrical association director and the head of which was VA Savin. The union has existed for more than eight years, after which there was a need to create a troupe of professional actors.

During 1930 it was carried out monthly courses on dramatic art. In the course were invited to the composer and director Bersenev Golitsyn, trains amateur artists. It was at that time the theater was the first name - Guidance indicative mobile theater of Komi, which began to develop performances from 8 October 1930, which was the date of its foundation. In 1932, the theater began to appear professional artists, including an experienced art director in the person of VP Vyborova - a graduate of the Academy of Arts in Leningrad.

Resolution of the Presidium of the Regional Executive Committee of the Komi Republic from June 14, 1936 was the beginning of the establishment of the Regional Plant theater companies. It attracts graduates of the Leningrad Theatre Academy - Ermolin SI Tarabukina AS, Capes PA, Zine AG Popov, IN and many others. Thus, there is a merger of graduates of vocational technical school and amateur troupes led to the formation of the Komi Khodyreva Drama Theatre. The first joint product was the play presented by the summer of 1936, under the title "Yegor Bulychev," which opened the first theater season.

October 27, 1980 according to the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Komi Drama Theater was awarded the Order of Friendship of Peoples. Two years before this event, the theater was named Savina, then in 1995 he was awarded the title of "Academic".

At the moment, the theater has a strong drama troupe leading the talented artists. The artistic director of Drama Theatre is Vyrypaeva Tatiana - Honored Cultural Worker of Russia.
