Litvinov

City Litvinov was not always large and representative population center with a population of about 25 thousand people. The date of its foundation is unknown, but a large role in its history played in 1352, when mentioned in the annals of two villages - Upper and Lower Litvinov Litvinov. After their union appeared town called Litvinov.

In 1715 Litvinov becomes patron in the person of Jan Josef Wallenstein, who then opens a factory for the production of fabrics. From that time begins prosperity of Litvinov, which receives municipal rights. A hundred years after this significant event was erected an obelisk in the center of the city.

Nowadays Litvinov - is a big industrial city, which still has tourist facilities and interesting to explore. These include the Baroque Church of St. Michael the Archangel. Its construction was initiated by the Wallenstein family in 1685 and continued for several years. As a result of the Seven Years War the church was almost destroyed. It was restored in 1763 and completely renovated interior, which is partially preserved until our time. In particular, in the church you can see the wooden benches, made in the Rococo style. Another reconstruction took place in the beginning of XX century. Then the temple was electricity. In the church it is worth paying attention to the big picture, which depicts the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin.

In the central square you can see the Litvinov town hall just two. Old was set up in 1789, and New built more recently - in the 1930s. In the center you can see the Marian column erected in the Baroque style, which is crowned by the Holy Trinity.
