Castle in pigs is located in Jawor County, and is the oldest castle in Lower Silesia and the oldest ducal castle art in modern Poland.
Legend tells of a Czech knight who killed a wild boar, thereby protecting the Queen Libuse. In gratitude Knight got the bride and the earth, where the castle was built. It is believed that the construction of the castle began in the year 760, however, documentary evidence of this fact does not exist. The first record dates back to the year 1108 in the chronicles of Cosmas of Prague. Already in 1313 in the castle church was built, which can be considered the oldest in Silesia.
The castle, perched on a hill, has a total area of about 18 000 square meters The oldest part of the castle - a rectangular residential tower, built probably in 1300. On the west facade of the tower are still visible remains of the Romanesque arched windows. Gable roof made of tiles. Up to now partially preserved geometric graffito, which are clearly visible on the stair tower.
On the ground floor of the castle it was made ballroom with wooden ceilings and ornate walls. Upper floors were divided into smaller rooms - here today, there are traces of the walls and plaster.
Swinish Castle is one of the few castles that escaped almost all the campaigns and looting. The greatest damage was caused by storm the fortress in 1840, when they were broken roof of the towers, and finally a fire in 1876 that destroyed the entire interior of the castle. In 1936, the roof of the building has been tightly closed, the castle has been preserved.
Since 1991, the castle is privately owned. July 5th, 2008 was a holiday devoted to the 900 anniversary of the castle and the village pigs, with the participation of the population and the authorities.
