Karula National Park is the smallest reserve in Estonia. The reserve area, located in southern Estonia, is 123 sq.km. Park got its status in 1993. This area is sparsely populated, as 70% of its sotavlyaet forests and lakes.

There are many hills, the highest point of the Karula Upland is Mount Tornimägi, whose height is 137, 8 meters above sea level. It is located near the village Lyullemyae. On Tornimägi equipped with an observation tower, which offers excellent views of not only the scenic landscapes of the reserve, but also the highest point of the Otepää Upland.

The reserve 38 lakes that were formed at the foot of the hills of Karula during the retreat of the continental ice. The biggest lake in the reserve is Ehiyarv lake covers an area of ​​176 hectares, and the most profound - Saviyarv whose depth of 18 m.

The fauna is represented in more birds, of which there are about 157 species. The mammals live here wild bear, moose, lynx, deer West. From smaller - squirrels, foxes, weasels, otters, raccoons.

The visitor's center is located in the village of Yahiyarve, you can find all the information about the structure, the device and the nature of the park. The same center is the permanent and seasonal exhibitions, where you can learn in detail about the inhabitants of the reserve.

Karula National Park has everything you need for active and passive recreation tourism. There is a furnished biking trails of varying length, as well as hiking, educational and walking trails.

It is worth noting a long walking trail, which extends 36 km. It is furnished with a circular trail information boards. It is also interesting to study landscape trail of 7 km. At the beginning of the trail provides parking. The trail is equipped with 16 information boards, in addition there is an observation deck and observation tower Rebazemyyza, whose height is 30 meters. In addition, the reserve has Karula nature trail, made especially for children. The length of the trail, which starts near the center of the Karula National Park, just 500 meters away - a distance that will be mastered by even the smallest child. The children's trail has 10 information boards, 7 Amusement and 9 themed objects, providing the opportunity to work and active games.
