City Hall (Ayuntamiento) of Seville was built in the period from 1527 to 1564 year. Located near the center of the city, between the beautiful Plaza de Nueva and Plaza de San Francisco, this building is now considered one of the most beautiful in the city.
The building was built by the architect Diego de Rihanna, under whose supervision completed and the Cathedral of Seville. The appearance of the building are intertwined elements and techniques typical of the Spanish Renaissance and Plateresque.

The facade is richly decorated with floral ornaments, pilasters, balustrade, relief images of historical and mythical individual and beautiful, elegant moldings. The facade is decorated with pictures and heraldic emblems of Hercules and Caesar, according to legend, is considered the founder of the city. Originally, the main entrance to the building was carried out from the area of San Francisco. In the 19th century the building was renovated by architects Demetrio de los Ríos and Balbino Brown, who created a new western facade in neoclassical style, facing the Plaza de Nueva. During the construction work the main entrance to the building was moved to its facade from the Plaza de Nueva. The project was also attended by well-known sculptors Pedro Domingos Lopes, Jose Manuel Rodriguez and Ordonez Echegoyan.
The City Hall kept the city archive, which contains information about the history of Seville since the reign of the Catholic Kings.
