The huge Gothic Cathedral of Santa Maria - the third largest in Europe after St. Peter's Cathedral in Rome and St Paul's Cathedral in London - was built in the early XV century on the site of a former mosque. Its construction lasted more than a century. The biggest height of the arch - 56 meters. The royal chapel in Renaissance style with an ornate dome are tombs of Alfonso X and his mother.

The altar, decorated with beautiful bars in Plateresque shakes his luxury. Huge zaaltarny Flemish master image of the work covered in gold. Every year on December 8 on the eve of the Holy Sacraments here, continuing the age-old tradition, singing and dancing the minuet children in costumes of Pages. The right side of the cathedral is the gravestone of Christopher Columbus, which is supported by figures of four kings, representing Castile, Aragon, Navarre, and Leon.

From ancient mosque survived orange courtyard where the faithful perform their ablutions before prayer, and Gates absolution - were once the entrance to the mosque. The minaret was rebuilt in 1568 in a five-story tower - the famous Giralda Tower. Now the tower, at a height of almost 90 meters, arranged a viewing platform overlooking the magnificent views of Seville and the Guadalquivir. The rise in the tower is carried out on a flat ramp without steps.
