By age 15 Hrapinovich - a graduate of the factory school at the Moscow Kuibyshev Electric Machinery Plant, was employed for the construction of the subway in Moscow, as locksmith, electrician. He played in amateur theater club at the factory. Then this amateur theater was called the Theatre of Working Youth (TRAM). He started his career under his real name. In 1937, he had already worked as an actor in the puppet theater, which was the house of the pioneers of Moscow.

During the war, voluntarily went to the front, passed in 1941 as a short-term military training fees, organized by the Moscow School of Military Engineers.
