Proviantskaya Street - one of the few streets of Saratov, to preserve the history not only in its name, but also the architecture.
Saratov at the time was one of the major trading cities of the Volga region. From all parts of the city were brought provisions and food for further shipment of supplies along the Volga. For this near-departure port (Provision vzvoz) built warehouses, which eventually began to grow into small houses, outbuildings, and later manors and mansions.
Proviantskaya in our time - a sleeping area in the bustling center of Saratov, with open access to the local beach-betonku (this hour on this place built a new promenade). As before, the street is composed of three blocks, each of which has its historical value.
The first point of interest, if you go from the Volga River, is home commune. In 1928, the government decided to build three houses with unusual two-tier plan apartments in three cities, including Saratov was. M. Gunzburga idea put into practice two Saratov architect Popov and Lisogor. The house was built in the style of constructivism.
Quarter is higher Yu.N.Terlikova house architect, a native of Saratov. The author's house in Art Nouveau style with a bas-relief depicting the human face, could be called classically rigorous, if not a round window with access to the iron balcony (unfortunately lost today). Opposite the house is Terlikova corner building with a semicircular facade, built in the late thirties. Architects: Dybov and Karpov.
In the center of the street is a red-yellow mansion, designed in Art Nouveau style, with a beautiful Greek stucco. Unfortunately, history has not left the name of the architect.
The next building has a sad story. It was built in 1904 widow's house Seraphim, which is decorated with remaining after reconstruction crosses on the facade and window arches. In 1910 the house was consecrated a church in honor of Titus the Wonderworker. The architect of the building G.G.Plotnikov. After the revolution, the house was reconstructed, built on two more floors, and only a few in the facade reminiscent of his religious past.
The last and most beautiful sight of streets Proviantskaya - a manor K.A.Shtafa, son of the founder of the Saratov Tobacco Factory, and now - the clinic of skin diseases. The building was constructed in 1912-1913 in classic German style.
In November 1972, the street was renamed in honor of Ya.Galana, and in the early nineties returned the historic name - Proviantskaya.
