His mark on the architecture of German colonists left Saratov since the 1760s, setting up colonies on the left and the right bank of the Volga. Decree of Catherine II in 1762 by settlers who settled colonies, were exempt from taxes for thirty years and enjoyed interest-free loan for ten years. Settling in Saratov, German diaspora until the revolution was strong and numerous, it confirms the main street of the city - the German (now the Kirov Avenue). This is due to active economic and trade ties with Germany Saratov province. In order to regulate this activity and accelerate the registration documents required for entering into various transactions with German entrepreneurs, it was decided to establish a German consulate in Saratov, for which decided to build a separate building.

The building is typical for the resettlement of German culture, appeared in 1908-1910, on the street Gentry (now Rabochaya). The project is carried out, according to some sources, the architect M.G.Zatsepin. Consulate building in modern style with elements of Western Gothic, devoid of any decor and chic. Solid front bricks, tiles tent, small turrets, an arrow fence posts and a little rooster weathervane (symbolic for this kind of buildings).

Since 1933 - it is housed Osoaviahima department, in 1951 he was replaced by DOSAAF aero club and the city, which from 1954 to 1955. Yuri Gagarin studied, as well as the 26 heroes of the Soviet Union. In 1980-1990-ies was an attempt to organize the urban German club, but due to lack of funds were forced to give up the historical premises. In 1993 he entered the building department of the Saratov oil and gas producing company that produced the overhaul and continues to be in this building until now.
