Alin monastery is located on the hillside below the peak of Kaleto Plan (1190 meters above sea level), 6 km from the village Alino and 20 km from the town of Samokov. It was founded in the XVI-XVII centuries during the early Renaissance and was the center of a book of local importance.
Alino village, in whose honor was named the holy abode, was first mentioned in Ottoman documents in 1576. Its population is engaged in production of mining ore, which is then treated in Samokov. The monastery was built thanks to generous donations from the villagers. Preserved the names of some of them: Zlatin pop, pop Stojko, pop Vylko, monk Elisha and others.
The only thing that remains of the monastery complex to the present day - the church and dilapidated residential building. The church is a single-nave temple without the porch, with a semi-cylindrical vault and one apse.
According ktitorskih preserved inscription, the church was painted in 1626 . At the top of the altar you can see the traditional image of "Our Lady of the Shire of Heaven", below - a scene from the Scriptures: "Communion of the Apostles", "Hospitality of Abraham", "The Annunciation", "Adoration of the sacrifice of Christ" . The eastern side of the temple walls are decorated with frescoes illustrating stories of miracles of Christ: "Marriage at Cana", "Disbelief of Thomas", "cutting off", etc. . The vaults presents various images of Christ: the young Christ Emmanuel Christ Pantocrator Christ as an angel . In the western part of the building alternating images of religious holidays and the Passion of Christ . In the XIX century on the western facade was added to the image of the patron saint of the church - Christ the Savior . The historical value and are icons of Christ, the Virgin, St. John of Rila, St. John the Baptist and a small icon of a cathedral in 1845, exhibited in the iconostasis . All murals are made in the style of the Athos Masters: A simple, uncluttered composition details; naive, primitive images of saints . However, some differences in the author's handwriting indicates that the painting was done by several authors .
