San Macuto - church, located in the eponymous square in Rome's Colonna far from the Jesuit College of San Roberto Bellarmino Palazzo Gabrielli Borromeo. It is the only church in Italy, dedicated to Saint Malo Brittany. Saint came from Wales and was a member of the monastic community, founded tubs Wise. He not later moved to Brittany, where he founded a monastery, which became the center of religious life. Few died in the first half of the 7th century, and became a revered saint from the 11th century. The city where he lived, was renamed in honor of his Saint-Malo

The first mention of the church there in 1192. In the second half of the 13th century it belonged to the Church of San Marcello al Corso, and later belonged to the Order of the Dominicans, and in 1422 became the parish church. In the 16th century monastic order from Bergamo, who at the time owned by the church, dedicated it to the martyr Saint Alexander of Bergamo, and the building in 1560 it acquired a new look by the architect Giovanni de Alberto Galvani.

In the first half of the 18th century monks from Bergamo by order of Pope Benedict XIII gave the Church of the Jesuits, who has dedicated a new temple Celtic saint Malo. And today, the church of San Macuto belongs to the Jesuits.

Facade of the single-nave church was built in the 15th century, and the interior decorations were slightly modified in 1819 by the architect Benedetto Pernikoli, which removed the original wooden arches. Interestingly, monks bergamtsy leaving the church, took away all the furniture, so the Jesuits had to re-furnish the San Macuto.
